Day 30th of Noirvember: Parting Gifs

I can scarcely believe that another Noirvember — my 10th! — has come to an end. It’s been another great ride, made even more awesome by all of you who commented, read, or even just strolled by on your way elsewhere! I appreciate you so much, one and all. You are the collective cat’s pajamas.

As has become my tradition on the last day of Noirvember, I’m pleased to offer a baker’s dozen of parting gifs from some of my favorite noirs. I hope you enjoy them and I hope to see you around these parts real soon!!

Brian Donlevy and Richard Conte in The Big Combo (1955)

Cloris Leachman in Kiss Me Deadly (1955)

Barbara Stanwyck in Double Indemnity (1944)

Ava Gardner and Edmond O’Brien in The Killers (1946)

Humphrey Bogart and Lizabeth Scott in Dead Reckoning (1947)

  1. It’s been a pleasure reading each day’s noirvember posting, so thank you. I especially enjoyed learning about Helene Stanley- the bobbysockser from my all time favorite noir. Like Doc I’d always been mesmerized by her boogie. Your gifs also never fail to coax a smile. Bravo.

  2. Great video clips. You certainly brightened up a dull, cold November. Roll on next November!

  3. Thanks for the reminders of all the great noirs

  4. Love these! and what a wonderful month of noir you gave us! Thank you for all the work, it was tons of fun.

  5. These are the best! i I love a good gif and these are an amazing collection of moving tributes to say see ya to Noirvember!

  6. I can’t believe it’s already time for parting gifs — it seems like five minutes ago you were telling us not to adjust our fedoras because it was the first day of Noirvember! As Raymond Chandler wrote in THE LADY IN THE LAKE, “The minutes went by on tiptoe, with their fingers on their lips…”

Thank you for your reconsideration of Gilda, and your witty take on Walter Neff..

Thank you the “Cookie” trivia and Vincent Price’s cornbread recipe…

Thank you for introducing me to ARMORED CAR ROBBERY, SHIELD FOR MURDER, and the knitwear credit in JAIL BAIT (knitwear, y’all!)…

Thank you for shining a light of shadowy actors like Vince Edwards, Gloria Grahame, Barry Kelly, and Don Beddoe…

Thank you for your stylish insights into HUMAN DESIRE, NIGHTFALL, THE ASPHALT JUNGLE, ODDS AGAINST TOMORROW, and the beasts Joanie Crawford had to battle in Noirtown…

Thank you for the quotes and the gifs and and the quiz and — most thrillingly for me — this year’s installment of CONFIDENTIAL NOIR…

Thank you for the “noir duos” and “noir dinner party” and “top 25” challenges…

Thank you all the research and watching and rewatching and writing and commenting…

Thank you for making fall a little more festive, and for giving me something to look forward to every day.

I’d like to think that the Caftan Woman is in Noir Heaven toasting your ten year Noirvember anniversary with Richard Conte and Barbara Stanwyck while Bette Davis recruits new subscribers like it’s 1944 and your blog is the Hollywood Canteen.

I hope you’ll be back next year.
Until then, I’ll keep a cocktail burning in the window for you, sister.

    • Thank you for your lovely, lovely words, Maudie — and thank you so much, for the second straight year, for being here with me every day. I love the image of Caftan Woman celebrating with Richard Conte and Barbara Stanwyck — not to mention Bette Davis as my recruiter! You’re the best — I appreciate you so much.

      • I appreciate you, too!
        (And I don’t think I’m alone here.)

Congratulations again on TEN (!!!) years of Noirvember — what a huge, shadowy accomplishment for the “Doyenne of The Dark Pages” (TM the Attaboy Clarence podcast)! 🥂

  7. Miss Maudie said it all, Karen! Many thx for all your excellent posts, articles, photos, etc, for Noirvember. That last clip of Orson (Harry Lime) from “The Third Man” is perfect…🎬😎
