Happy Blogiversary to Me — 2.0!

To borrow (and tweak) a line from Annie Johnson in Imitation of Life — our wedding day and our blogiversary are the great events of life.

It’s hard to believe that two whole years have passed since I wrote my first post for Shadows and Satin — and yet it seems like it was just yesterday. (Or maybe the day before.) My humble, heartfelt and most sincere thanks to anyone who has ever read anything I’ve ever had to say!

In what is now my blogiversary tradition, I extend sincere thanks to Kristina, Senior Writer for The Dark Pages and author of Speakeasy, for encouraging me to start a blog in the first place. Writing this blog has been aces! (And, also, totally keen.)

To celebrate my two-year blogiversary, I give a nod to the posts I offered on this date for the last two years, and leave you with a great quote from one of my favorite actresses — this time, it’s Barbara Stanwyck, from Ten Cents a Dance (1931):

“You’re not a man. You’re not even a good sample.”

And if you haven’t seen this pre-Code goodie, make it your business to check it out.

You know why.

  1. Congrats! Will check out 10 cents a dance.

  2. Congrats, Karen! I was amazed when I first found your blog, and without seeing the wonderful things you’re doing here, I probably would never have found the confidence to create my own classic film blog. Thanks so much, and keep up the great work!

  3. Hot ziggety pup, it’s your Bloggerversary! Happy Blogiversary, Karen, and here’s to many more Blogaversaries to come, with more great posts! All of us here at Team Bartilucci HQ are applauding and whistling with joy! :-D!

Here’s to many more years of your wonderful blog. 🙂

  6. If you’re gonna quote, no better person to do it than Babs.

  7. HA! LOVE that Stanwyck quote!

You’re the best, Karen as is Shadows and Satin. Finding it is one of the highlights of the blogosphere for me! And on twitter too. Oh, and at the TCMFF. I made sure I was at my best Noir behavior knowing you were behind me the whole time!

CONGRATULATIONS and here’s to many, many more years of blogging joyful goodness.

  8. Congrats Karen on two years of great, great stuff! To paraphrase Philip Marlowe from Murder, My Sweet:
“I caught the urge to blog right behind my ear. A black pool opened up at my feet. I dived in. It had no bottom.” 🙂

  9. Congratulations, Karen! 🙂

  10. Congrats on making it two years. Many blog couples break-up–glad to see you two are sticking it out.

  11. Happy 2nd Blogiversary Karen! I’m so glad Kristina encouraged you to start your blog (thanks Kristina!). We’re all better off for it. 🙂 Looking forward to many more years of reading your great posts!

  13. Hooray! Happy blogiversary! Time really does fly doesn’t it?

  14. Happy Anniversary Karen and the Dark Pages! Enjoy the Annie Johnson/Juanita Moore “quote” from Imitation of Life. Oddly enough earlier this evening I watched an old Adam 12 episode with Juanita Moore guest starring as a new police commissioner riding in the back of Malloy and Reed’s patrol car to observe what they do. Good to see Juanita in more of a take charge role! I digress…I enjoy reading your blog and look forward to reading more posts!

    • Hi, Charles! Thank you so much for your kind words, and for your great comments since practically the beginning! It’s always a pleasure for me to read what you have to say. How ironic about seeing Juanita Moore in Adam 12! I’d love to see that — I’ve only seen her in one other movie, Affair in Trinidad (which was kinda whack). Thanks again!

  15. I raise a toast to many more years of blogging.

  16. as usual i come in late to a good party 🙂 however i conveniently brought my own glass and raise it to you (depending on the time of day you read this, feel free to guess what’s in the glass). thank you so much for thanking me! i’m just so glad you did the blog, it’s always a fun read and your readers enjoy you sharing your cool knowledge & views. You’re the top, you’re the Eiffel Tower…
